Mentoring Success: From College Grad to Sales Professional

Helping a college grad enter into a sales career through coaching, interview preparation, and resume review.

Tell Us About Yourself

Carlee C. from Charlotte, NC. I am a recent college graduate who joined Palo Alto Networks as an Associate Business Development Analyst

Why did you want to go into sales?

I wanted to go into sales and a business development role in order to connect and serve people I come in contact with. Apart from making money, sales and business development allows you to connect with people that you work with and reach people who are not part of the company yet. Relationships are a huge part of my life so it is a gift being able to do what I love while also making money.

What was your experience working with Sales Squad Foundation (SSF)?

SSF was the biggest blessing. Any question I had was addressed as soon as possible and I felt support and guidance throughout my job search. During what would normally be stressful time, I felt at ease and could relax to “enjoy the process” because I knew I had extra support that would not allow me to fail and help me succeed!

How did SSF help you? And what were the results?

SSF helped me throughout my whole job search. From interview prep, discussing different offers, addressing simple and complex issues, and to learning sales/negotiation/communication/presentation skills, SSF had me covered in every aspect.

What advice would you give to someone who was in your shoes?

Find someone who knows the industry and has been in your place before. Stick to minimal pool of people for advice and make sure they know what they’re talking about before you listen to them. Enjoy the process as much as you can and remain driven throughout the process.

How would you like to see SSF help you in the future?

I would like to see SSF help me in the future by lending assistance throughout my next career step. Whether thats a big decision with the company I am part of now, or helping me find a better fit in a different season.
